Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Sports Minister Sanjay Bansode conducted the Bhoomipoojan for Maharashtra Olympic Bhawan and Museum at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Mahalunge-Balewadi on Sunday, February 11th, 2024. The event was graced by several dignitaries including Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Sports Commissioner Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase, Deputy Director of Sports Suhas Patil, and General Secretary of Maharashtra Olympic Association Namdev Shirgaonkar.

Ajit Pawar emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting sports, stating that the Rs 72 crore project would feature 61 offices of the Olympic Association, an International Standard Olympic Museum, and the Sports Commissioner’s Office. He expressed delight at the development of India’s first Olympic Museum, highlighting its significance as a platform for athletes.

Furthermore, Pawar announced special provisions for 12 Olympic sports and emphasized the government’s efforts to maximize opportunities for national-level players. He mentioned the allocation of 5% reservations in government jobs for athletes excelling at the national level.

In conclusion, Pawar urged public representatives to prioritize the maintenance of Taluka sports complexes for the benefit of athletes.
