Pune: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party has requested the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to resume daily water supply for Punekars without any water cut .

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sainath Babar, President, MNS Party Pune said, “Even if the dams & water bodies near Pune have started filling exponentially on a daily basis, Punekars are still facing water cuts weekly. Hence, the MNS party has sent a detailed request to the PMC to restart everyday water supply for Punekars immediately.”

As per information, the Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation Vikram Kumar has announced that the decision to withdraw the water cut in Pune city will be reviewed in the month of August 2023.

Even today, Pune residents have to suffer due to water shortage. Khadakwasla dam chain has accumulated 60% water till last night. Khadakwasla Dam alone is 82% full. Due to heavy rainfall in the catchment area, the Khadakwasla dam chain is going to fill up to its full capacity, the irrigation department is working to release water from the river bed and there is a possibility of releasing water from the river bed in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Hence, the MNS has requested the reasons as to why there is water cut in the city of Pune and has asked to immediately cancel the water cuts. Why is the meeting being held in the first week of August? It should be noted that an immediate decision should be taken to cancel the water cut in the city of Pune and provide smooth water supply to the people of Pune on a daily basis otherwise there will be an agitation on behalf of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
