Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kumar recently announced that autorickshaws converting into e-rickshaws will receive a subsidy of Rs 25000.

The move is taken to encourage use of e-vehicles. This will have a great impact not only on the environment which will help in reducing the air pollution but also benefit the auto rickshaw owners to earn more. This will definitely motivate the auto owners to opt for e-vehicles, which is a step towards making our city green and clean.

Earlier, the municipal corporation was offering Rs 12,000 each to fit CNG kits to autorickshaws which also helps in reducing air pollution. Auto Rickshaw owners will have to spend the remaining amount from his own pocket to fit e-vehicle systems, while the PMC will give Rs 25,000.

The civic body will also set up charging stations across the city to charge these vehicles.
