With just one month remaining in the financial year, Pune city officials are preparing to ramp up efforts to collect overdue property taxes. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to kick off its enforcement drive starting this Thursday, targeting properties whose owners have failed to settle their tax dues.

Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of Taxation at PMC, outlined the strategy in a press release. Stressing the significance of tax collection for the city’s revenue, Jagtap revealed that the PMC has set a specific target for this year’s collection. To meet this goal, they are launching a campaign to recover outstanding taxes, which includes the measure of seizing properties.

To facilitate timely tax payments, special centers will be operational on government holidays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, and on Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm. Additionally, citizens have the option to conveniently pay their taxes online through the PMC website.

Jagtap emphasized, “Properties belonging to owners who have neglected their tax obligations will be subject to confiscation. Dedicated teams have been assigned to each zone to ensure the smooth execution of this operation.”
