Pune: Putting smiles back on the faces of the citizens, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd Punyadasham buses have received provisional fitness certificates from the Pune RTO. Currently, 9 buses have received the certificates and another 11 buses will receive the fitness certificate soon. It is worthy to note that the buses were not plying on the road due to a lack of fitness certificates.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sanjeev Bhor, Deputy Commissioner, RTO Pune said, “This is a regular exercise for all the buses in the city to renew their fitness certificates. Otherwise, services of such buses will be cancelled. Hence, the buses whose last fitness certificate has expired have been issued with fitness certificates.”

Punyadasham bus service was started for the citizens who can travel the entire city for just 10 rupees. But some buses were not allowed to run on the roads due to a lack of fitness clearance.

As per information from Sanjeev Bhor, as many as 20 buses will be in the service of PMPML, which will provide great convenience to the passengers. Also, 50 Punyadasham buses did not have fitness certificates from RTO. Now, as 9 buses already have got the provisional fitness certificates from the RTO, the remaining 41 buses will soon renew their fitness certificates.

Due to the expiry of these fitness certificates, the buses were not in service since July 8. While 11 new buses will be available for service after receiving the fitness certificates on Wednesday (July 19), the remaining buses will be put into service in a phased manner from Saturday (July 22) after receiving the fitness certificates.
