PUNE: Residents of The Lake District & many other residential societies of Yeolewadi and commuters are facing distress and frustration as they navigate their vehicles through deep potholes daily, especially from Khadi Machine Chowk towards Yeolewadi.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ryan Dennis, a Resident of The Lake District, Yeolewadisaid, “We are facing this issue for a long time now. The engineers of Pune Municipal Corporation come to repair these potholes during rush hours, with a truck full of tar. They just pour the tar to fill the potholes without other required heating equipment. Due to such shoddy work, the road develops potholes again in 2 to 3 weeks.”

Amol Kapse, a resident of The Lake District, Yeolewadi said, “The entire stretch of road from Khadi Machine Chowk towards Yevalewadi  is a nightmare for driving. The road is filled with deep potholes. There is no alternate route. Due to such poor road conditions, we also suffer sometimes from ailments like stomach ache due to bumpy driving.”

Jayant Chillal, another resident of The Lake District, Yeolewadi  said, “Travelling from Khadi Machine Chowk to Sun Exotica in Yevalewadi, I develop serious back pain. The entire stretch is full of deep potholes. PMC comes, puts some tar on the potholes for name’s sake & goes. After some days, potholes start developing again. There is no concrete solution for this.”

Mohan Yelpale, another resident of The Lake District, Yeolewadi said, ” For 5 to 6 years, we have been facing this issue of deep potholes etc. I have witnessed several accidents & mishaps taking place due to the horrible road conditions.”

Preeti Victor, a regular commuter to Yeolewadi said, “I travel on this stretch every day towards my office in Yevalewadi. There are several colleges nearby. Various industries are getting created & developed here. Still, the condition of the road remains bad. Thus, the relevant authorities & politicians are requested to permanently make the entire road pothole free.”

Vijay Kulkarni, Chief Engineer, PMC Road Department said, “We frequently execute pothole patching work on this road.”
