Pune: Protesters in Pimpri Chinchwad expressed their frustration with the government’s prolonged delay in addressing the Maratha reservation issue by doing Dashakriya Ceremony.

On October 31, the Pimpri Chinchwad Maratha Kranti Morcha organized the Dashakriya ritual to bring attention to the ongoing hunger strikes and protests for the Maratha reservation. Despite being promised a resolution within 30 days, the government took an astonishing 47 days to address this persistent issue.

Manoj Jarange-Patil has been on a hunger strike for the past seven days at Antarvali Sarati, while the Maratha community’s youth have taken extreme measures, including suicide, to raise awareness about their situation. The government has not yet taken a definitive stance on the Maratha reservation issue. In response to this lack of action, a government representative participated in the Dashakriya ritual at Morya Gosavi Dashakriya Vidhi Ghat in Chinchwadgaon, organized by the Maratha Kranti Morcha in Pimpri Chinchwad. During the ceremony, women also joined the protest, passionately expressing their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the issue. Manoj Jarange Patil, the leader of the movement for the Maratha reservation, initially received assurances from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who promised a decision within 40 days. However, despite meetings and events organized by the Chief Minister and Deputy Minister, a conclusive solution to the Maratha reservation issue remains elusive, leading many to perceive the government’s failure in regard to the Maratha community.
