Pimpri, July 9, 2025: The Standing Committee meeting of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was held today at the late Mayor Madhukar Pawale Hall in the main administrative building. The meeting was chaired by Administrator Shekhar Singh, with Additional Commissioners Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Vijaykumar Khorate, Tripti Sandbhor, City Secretary Mukesh Kolpe, and senior department heads in attendance.
The committee approved several key proposals, including structural works and cleaning of drains in Prabhag 26 (Pimple Nilakh) and adjoining areas, a door-to-door survey and mapping of the social and economic conditions of differently-abled citizens across the city, repair of Kuki Nala in Prabhag 19, supply of saplings for plantation on municipal roads, gardens, and open spaces, biomining of legacy waste at Moshi garbage depot under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, and establishment of a fund to support needy patients at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital. Approval was also given for structural and electrical works at the site of the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj statue in Peth 5/8 of Prabhag 2.
In a significant digital initiative, Administrator Shekhar Singh inaugurated the new ‘Pay and Park’ system with WhatsApp Parking Service during the meeting. The innovative facility allows citizens to book parking spaces directly via WhatsApp, enabling real-time reservations under their name. If the vehicle is not parked within the stipulated time, users receive instant alerts, and the space is released for others.
The system has been implemented at 10 locations across the city, aiming to save citizens’ time and streamline parking management. Unlike traditional methods, there is no need for physical tickets or documents, and all booking details and alerts are provided digitally through WhatsApp. According to Deputy City Engineer Bapusaheb Gaikwad of the Urban Transport Department, the initiative is expected to enhance traffic flow and efficiency in parking operations across Pimpri Chinchwad.
