Together with former MLA Mohan Joshi, residents of Koregaon Park and Bund Garden met with traffic police officials on Tuesday (20th February) at Mobos Chowk to finalize traffic diversion plans prior to the demolition of the Sadhu Vaswani bridge.

On that stretch, officials are testing road diversions. However, the locals have voiced a number of complaints about these trials.

As per further information shared by Rohan Desai, Resident of Koregaon Park “Citizens’ suggestions were welcomed by Pune Traffic Police Senior Police Inspector Rajkumar Shere. Each age group from Koregaon Park and Bund Garden gave valuable suggestions. A major suggestion was opening the Ghorpadi flyover first. Upon this, Rajkumar Shere explained the traffic flowing percentage from each route and they have taken all factors into consideration. He also mentioned that they are doing many trials to find optimum solutions and then will finalize the routes. Dhairyashil Vandekar coordinated with citizens and the traffic department for this meeting. Mohan Joshi of “Wakeup Punekar” was present as well. Many detailed suggestions by citizens were there and all were discussed. The Pune Traffic Police has good overall data on traffic flowing percentage from each side, so, hoping they will make a good decision.”

Mohan Joshi, General secretary, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, said that after the diversions, one-way traffic caused anxiety among the locals. None of the residents’ suggestions were taken into consideration when doing this. They anticipate that these recommendations will aid in enhancing diversions following their meeting with the traffic department. The goal of this campaign is to find solutions for traffic problems throughout the entire city.

Rajkumar Shere, Senior Inspector, Pune Traffic Police (Planning), said that barricades in the vicinity of Mangaldas Road will be taken down, per the residents’ suggestion. They are about to put into action a comprehensive plan that covers 15 intersections surrounding the Sadhu Vaswani Bridge. They will make sure to consider every suggestion made by the locals.
