Pune News : Tejas Squad to Keep An Eye On Unauthorized Activities, Ticketless Travellers on Pune Railway Station

Pune:   An integrated Tejas squad consisting of 2 ticket checking staff, 2 Railway Protection Force (RPF) and 2 Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel is established to take action against littering, unauthorized parking, spitting, smoking, ticketless travelling, not having platform tickets, trespassing and unauthorized vendors on Pune Railway station.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commissioner Manager (DCM) and PRO, Pune Railway said, “To curb unauthorized activities in station premises of Pune and to minimise ticketless travels a new ‘Tejas Squad’ which includes ticket checking, RPF and GRP staff has been formed. It will not only increase ticketing revenue but also help to minimise unauthorized and illegal activities at Pune station.”

As per information shared by Bhise, a joint meeting between Railway’s commercial branch, RPF was held at SP GRP office on 20/06/2023 and it was decided to form a special dedicated squad (TEJAS SQUAD) consisting of two Ticket Checking staff, 2 RPF and 2 GRP personnel at Pune station, who will be conducting checks at Pune Station in two shifts from 16 hrs to 24 hrs and 0.00 hrs to 8.00 hrs. During the check ticket checking staff will check the tickets and RPF/ GRP will assist to deal with the ticketless unauthorized passengers. All the TEJAS squad members will ensure better crowd management on railway premises. RPF and GRP will maintain law and order and ensure the safety and security of passengers on the station premises.

The TEJAS Team will start conducting checks from 19/07/2023 and this had strengthened the presence of staff in station premises and trains, inculcating safety and security feeling among the passengers.

Introduction of the TEJAS squad will ensure:

·         Decrease in ticketless travel and strict action as per law against unauthorized persons detected on railway premises.

·         Decrease in theft cases in railway premises.

·         Overcrowding of platforms by passengers will be controlled effectively to ensure the free movement of the passengers on platforms.

·         Safety and security of passengers, especially women and senior citizen passengers will improve.

·         Lower the incidents of unauthorized parking in the station area and will avoid traffic jams outside the station premises.
