In an unfortunate incident in Pune, a woman from Pashan, identified as Varsha Amit Marathe, accidentally drove her car onto the footpath in the Patwardhan Bagh area of Erandwane while attempting a U-turn.

This resulted in a horrifying accident where three schoolgirls, Harshada, Mahima, and Rasika, on their way to class, were seriously injured. Marathe, who works as a life coach and owns a PR company, has been detained by the police.

The incident occurred as Marathe was heading to a beauty parlor in Patwardhan Bagh and was searching for a parking spot. While executing the U-turn on Gulwani Road, her speeding car lost control, veering onto the footpath and colliding with the three girls. Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene as the car ran over the girls, with one of them becoming trapped beneath the vehicle.

Citizens rushed to help, managing to free the trapped girl. The injured girls were in excruciating pain, and their distress was evident to onlookers.

Local citizens promptly contacted the police, who arrived at the scene. Marathe claimed that the accident was entirely unintentional and stated that she had been driving for many years. Eyewitnesses, however, criticized her lack of concern for the injured girls and her failure to inquire about their well-being or the hospital to which they were being taken.

All three injured girls were swiftly admitted to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. Two girls are now out of danger, while one suffered severe jaw injuries and a fractured collarbone and is receiving treatment in a private hospital.

Police are currently in the process of recording the statements of the injured girls, and no case has been registered as of yet. Alankar police station is investigating the incident.
