Pune NGO’s extend help in Khed’s flood affected areas

Khed taluka was among the worst flood affected areas which displaced many people. As soon as the water level started receding, relief work began in the area. Several NGO’s from Pune and across Maharashtra reached out to people who were affected and began sending relief materials.

NGO’s from Pune Tuba Foundation, Being Volunteer, Vaghami Foundation, Saare Jahan Se Achha, Pune Feed the Need, Josh Connect send relief material through Pune residents and social activists Pari Hamdule, Sathya Natarajan, Samairrah and many others sent atleast two trucks full of materials to Khed and handed it over to the district administration. Prajakta Ghorpade, tehsildar accepted the relief materials sent by these NGOs.

Samairrah from Vaghami Foundation, Pune said, “Donors should send relief material to the right authorities as it reaches on time and also to the right people. We worked with the National Disaster Relief and district administration. ”

Sathya Natarajan while talking to Pune Pulse said, “Heavy rains have affected most of the places. NGO’s are doing tremendous work in providing relief to the flood affected areas. The bigger challenge now is to handle the plastic which will be left after the water bottles will be used and thrown away. It is necessary to have proper management of these materials. We have spoken to the local administrative authorities and have got a shed where these plastic can be collected and further sent for processing.”
