Pune: No More Promises — Kharadi Residents To Hold Chain Fast Over Water Shortage
Pune, April 27, 2026:
Residents of Kharadi have united under the banner of the Kharadi Housing Societies Welfare Association (KHSWA) to protest against persistent water supply problems affecting the area for over 15 years. In a collective call for action, citizens are set to organize a peaceful chain fasting protest on May 1, 2026.
The demonstration will begin at 9:30 AM near the PMC Water Tank, close to Mount n Glory Society on DP Farms Road in Kharadi. Members from multiple housing societies are expected to participate in the protest, which will be conducted in shifts following a chain fasting format.
Organisers have emphasized that the protest will remain peaceful, non-disruptive, and lawful, aimed at drawing attention to what they describe as a long-neglected basic necessity. Residents say that despite repeated assurances, the issue of reliable water supply remains unresolved.
Highlighting the urgency, residents have stressed that water is a fundamental right and not a privilege. Through slogans such as “Water Today, Better Tomorrow” and “No More Promises, We Need Solutions,” the association is urging authorities to take immediate and concrete steps.
KHSWA has appealed to all residents to join the movement, underscoring that collective unity and participation are key to bringing about lasting change. The protest also carries a broader message of water conservation and securing a sustainable future for the community.
Residents say the initiative reflects their determination to stand together for “water justice” and ensure access to adequate water supply for every household in Kharadi.
