In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Pune has been placed on high alert, with security intensifying at vital locations across the city. The heightened vigilance follows an “orange alert” classification, signaling a significant security threat that is not yet critical but demands readiness.

Pune is on orange alert, which indicates a high probability of a serious threat or disaster. Authorities have increased preparedness, surveillance, and public advisories while continuing normal operations.

Security has been boosted at several strategic sites, including Airport, Defence establishments, Academy (NDA), railway stations and bus depots Religious and public places with high footfall—like the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple, Sarasbaug temple, and Swargate bus depot—are also under tightened watch.

The temple team is in high-alert mode, especially with the weekend rush approaching. Devotees visiting the temple are being advised not to linger unnecessarily, though authorities stress that these are precautionary measures and there is no cause for panic.

Pune, known for its educational and IT sectors, also houses several key defence establishments such as the Ordnance Factory in Khadki and DRDO facilities. Officials emphasize that ensuring security at these sensitive institutions is critical given the current geopolitical developments.

Authorities continue to urge citizens to remain calm, stay informed through verified sources, and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
