Pune: PMPML Allocates 968 Buses For Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024

Pune Civic Body Demands Bus Fare Hike As PMPML'S Losses Mount
The Pune Mahanagar Transport Corporation Ltd. (PMPML) is gearing up to support the Maharashtra Assembly General Election 2024 by allocating a massive fleet of 968 buses. This move is in response to a request from the Collector and District Election Officer of Pune District, and the buses will be deployed on November 19 and 20, 2024. The allocation aims to ensure smooth transportation for election-related activities, particularly in areas within the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) limits.
While the buses will facilitate the electoral process, passengers may experience some inconvenience, especially in suburban areas adjacent to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. The PMPML has appealed to passengers to cooperate and take note of the temporary adjustments to its services. This is not the first time PMPML has supported election efforts; previously, 300 PMPML buses were mobilized for transporting ballot boxes, and 50 ST buses were utilized for efficient movement on polling day.
The extensive allocation of buses will undoubtedly impact passenger services, with reduced availability on routes within Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. However, the PMPML is working to minimize disruptions and ensure that the election process runs smoothly. The corporation’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to supporting the democratic process in Maharashtra.
To mitigate the impact on passengers, the PMPML may operate alternative routes or schedules. Passengers are advised to check with the corporation for updates on service timings and routes affected by the election-related deployments. By working together, the PMPML and the public can ensure a successful electoral process.
As the election approaches, the PMPML’s role in facilitating transportation will be crucial. With its fleet of buses, the corporation is poised to support the democratic process and ensure that all necessary personnel and materials reach their destinations efficiently.
