Pune Police Arrests 10 People From Bihar Involved In Festive Season Railway Ticket ScamĀ
A notorious gang from Bihar, operating in Pune during festive seasons, has been busted by the Faraskhana Police Station. The gang, comprising 10 members, targeted travelers at Pune Railway Station, promising online railway tickets and then robbing them of valuables. The victims were lured to secluded areas, beaten, and forced to surrender their ATM cards, PAN cards, and Aadhaar cards. The gang would then withdraw large sums from the victims’ accounts. In one instance, a 21-year-old youth from Shirur lost Rs 3.3 lakh after being assaulted and robbed near Dulya Maruti temple.
The arrested gang members include Raja Yunush Pinku, Mohammad Sultan Mohammad Tauhid Sheikh, Munna Jodhan Sah, Rakesh Kapleswar Paswan, Bishambar Mosfir Das, Dhamendra Kumar Asrafia, Jitendra Kumar Mohan Sahni, Rajendra Kumar Sukhdev Mahato, Dinesh Hari Paswan, and Pitambar Mosafir Das, all natives of Bihar.
During raids, police seized 41 mobile phones, cash worth Rs 1.43 lakh, 3 Aadhaar cards, 2 PAN cards, ATM cards of 9 individuals, and goods valued at Rs 5.77 lakh.
The police crackdown was led by Additional Commissioner of Police Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Nutan Pawar. Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme, Police Inspector Ajit Jadhav, and their team played a crucial role in the investigation.
The gang’s modus operandi involved targeting travelers during Dahihandi and Ganeshotsav, when crowds thronged the railway station. They would offer online tickets, take victims to isolated areas, and rob them. To avoid detection, they would destroy evidence by disposing of stolen documents and clothes.
