Pune: Pune Police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Lalit Patil, drug mafia and his aides following his arrest on Tuesday.

As per information, there are allegations that Dr Sanjeev Thakur, founder of Sassoon Hospital, has assisted Lalit Patil in various ways.

MLA Ravindra Dhangekar has strongly asked that not only Sanjeev Thakur but also the involved police officers and Vinay Aranha of Rosary School should be considered co-accused and subjected to MCOCA proceedings.

As per the information received, Dhangekar has suggested that there may be efforts to protect Dr Thakur. He also urged narcotic testing of both the investigating police and Dr Thakur. He emphasizes the urgency of government intervention to bring Dr. Thakur under the scope of the MCOCA Act.
