Pune Railway division fines 21,756 ticket less travellers

In a crackdown against ticketless travel, Pune Railway Division has collected a fine of more than Rs 1 crore 72 lakh 23 thousand rupees from over 21 thousand 756 people during the month of March 2023. 

The action was carried out under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirve, and Divisional Commercial Manager in coordination with ticket inspectors led by Dr Ramdas Bhise.

According to reports, more than 7,050 people were fined for irregular travel, and 215 people were fined for carrying luggage without booking. In the past 12 months, from April to March this year, the railway administration has recovered over Rs 24 crore 65 lakh in 3 lakh 41 thousand 180 cases.

The railway administration has appealed to passengers to travel with valid tickets only, failing which they will have to pay a fine under the Railway Act and may also face imprisonment. The ticket checking campaign will continue in the future to ensure that passengers comply with the rules and regulations.
