The Railway GRP arrested an RPF operative on charges of raping and kidnapping a 17-year-old girl from Chhattisgarh in the railway area on Tadiwala road between September 12 and 17.
The girl returned to her hometown Chhattisgarh after the gruesome incident and a Zero FIR was filed with the police.
It was forwarded to the GRP (Government Railway Police), Pune, who registered a formal FIR and initiated an investigation.
Additional superintendent of GRP, Pune, said that they have detained a man associated with the constable. They are searching for the constable.
Pune railway officials said the police officer has been suspended. The RPF inspector at Pune railway station was also suspended for lax investigation.
The official said the Deputy Commissioner of Security has been directed to investigate the matter and submit a report to the department within a week.
A GRP officer said the girl ran away with her friend and got down at Pune railway station.
RPF (Railway Protection Force) agents allegedly discovered them. He allegedly took them to Tadiwala Road railway area on the pretext of getting them help from an NGO.
The official said the investigation revealed that an NGO was operating illegally from a room in the railway compound and was registered in the name of the police officer’s brother-in-law.
