2023 was good for Pune Airport. Over 80 lakh passengers traveled through Pune airport last year. They have succeeded in achieving the status that existed before Covid-19 pandemic period. In the current financial year, the number of passengers is likely to cross 90 lakhs.

Last year, 59 thousand 451 flights stayed at Pune airport. From this, the Pune airport has received an income of around Rs 148 crores. Pune ranks ninth among the busiest airports in the country.

More than a thousand flights were canceled at Pune airport last year. However, the volume of air traffic remains high. Before Covid-19 pandemic period, 80 lakh 85 thousand 607 passengers traveled from Pune airport in the year 2019-20. While in the financial year 2022-23, 80 lakh 7 thousand 160 passengers traveled.

Between April 1 and December 31, 2023, 71 lakh 24 thousand 151 passengers traveled. The current financial year will end on March 31. Before that, about 2 million more passengers are likely to travel from Pune airport. Therefore, the number of passengers in the current financial year is likely to exceed 90 lakhs.

A senior Pune airport official said that the Pune airport has reached the count of number of passengers in 2023 just like the count of passengers before Covid-19 pandemic period. It is expected to cross 90 lakhs in 2024. Once the new terminal opens, the number of passengers and flights will increase further.
