Pune : Rasta Roko in Hadapsar by Sakal Maratha Samaj
Manoj Jarange Patil, a fervent advocate for the Maratha community’s rights, spearheaded a Rasta Roko demonstration at Manjari Phata Chowk in Hadapsar, amplifying their demands. Organized under the aegis of the Sakal Maratha Samaj in Hadapsar, the protest caused a significant traffic disruption, drawing attention to the pressing issues faced by the community.
At the heart of the protest is the perceived betrayal by the Maharashtra state government regarding the ten percent reservation granted, which was deemed insufficient. Concurrently, as hunger strikes unfolded in Antarwali Sarati, demanding Maratha inclusion in the OBC category and the enactment of Sage Soyare into law, the call for action reverberated across Maharashtra. Consequently, Jarange Patil urged for widespread Rasta Roko protests across the state to amplify their demands.
The demonstration at Manjari Phata Chowk, Vitthal Nagar, stood as a unified stance representing the collective aspirations of the Maratha community in Hadapsar. Women from the community voiced their concerns to the Hadapsar Police, underscoring the depth of their grievances.
Notably, the Rasta Roko protest saw diverse participation, including doctors, lawyers, and educated youths, illustrating the breadth of support for the cause. Amidst the disruption, the organizers took meticulous care to ensure the safety of essential services, guaranteeing the unhindered passage of ambulances and emergency vehicles. Moreover, they prioritized the protection of school and college students, affirming their commitment to peaceful and responsible protest.
