Pune: Ravet, Kalewadi, Bhosari & Hinjawadi To Get New MSEDCL Substations Soon
Pune, April 17, 2026: With rapid urbanisation and a sharp rise in population putting pressure on existing power infrastructure, MLA Shankar Jagtap has demanded the creation of four new Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) offices in Ravet, Kalewadi, Bhosari (Bijlinagar), and Hinjawadi.
Highlighting the increasing burden on the current system, Jagtap called for the immediate bifurcation of the Dehuroad division and other large service zones to ensure faster grievance redressal and efficient service delivery. He also instructed officials to take possession of land for the proposed ‘Yashada’ project in Tathawade and expedite the construction of an extra high-voltage substation.
The demands were raised during a key meeting held in the presence of State Minister of Energy Meghna Sakore-Bordikar. The meeting focused on addressing persistent power supply issues, pending infrastructure projects, and funding constraints in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MLAs Bapusaheb Pathare, Yogesh Tilekar, Amit Gorakhe, along with senior officials from Mahatransco and MSEDCL, were also present.
Jagtap noted that areas such as Ravet, Hinjawadi, and Kalewadi have witnessed significant growth in residential projects over the past few years, leading to a surge in electricity consumers. However, the existing offices were designed for a much smaller consumer base, resulting in delays and operational strain.

He pointed out that Ravet currently falls under the Dehuroad office, and the distance often delays complaint resolution. Creating independent offices with smaller jurisdictions would streamline documentation, speed up new connections, and reduce response time. Immediate assistance in densely populated areas like Hinjawadi and Kalewadi would also become more efficient.
Call for Electricity Distribution Control Committees
Jagtap also proposed the formation of constituency-wise “Electricity Distribution Control Committees.” MSEDCL Chief Engineer Kakade assured prompt action on this proposal. The committees would include public representatives, officials, corporators, and consumer representatives to enable quicker resolution of local issues.
Infrastructure Push and Substation Development
On infrastructure, officials assured that after depositing ₹19 crore, the tender process and groundwork for the Tathawade substation would begin within the next five months.
Jagtap further pushed for strengthening power infrastructure by laying a high-capacity transmission line between NCL Pashan and Aundh, installing additional transformers at Rahatani and Chinchwad substations, and restoring reduced power capacity in the Hinjawadi IT Park area ahead of summer demand.
He also emphasised securing maximum funds for MSEDCL under the District Planning Committee (DPC), promoting the PM Surya Ghar scheme, and ensuring pending proposals under RDSS and NPSS are approved before the monsoon. These measures are expected to benefit both residential and industrial consumers in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
