Over 80 residents of Godrej Rejuve held a morcha against the builder and demanded a solution to the increasing water scarcity issues faced by the residents.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, a resident said that the builder has stopped supplying water to them. He has given an undertaking to the PMC that he shall be providing water till they get a pipeline. But instead, they have stopped sending tankers. Godrej Rejuve is a society of 726 apartments and needs 47 water tankers daily, but is being sent only 7 tankers.

The official X handle of Rejuve Co-operative Housing Society Ltd, on behalf of the residents of Godrej Rejuve located in Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa, Pune, shared some details of the incident and wrote:

“For the past three days, the builder @GodrejProp has ceased providing water to its residents. Our society comprises 726 flats with approximately 2400 people. Water is a fundamental human need and a basic right of residence, yet the builder has stopped its supply. This isn’t the first time such an incident has occurred. With temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius outside, 726 flat owners find themselves stranded due to this action by a reputed builder.”

Another tweet by the same handle had mentioned that the water connection at Rejuve has deliberately been turned off by someone. The tweets have garnered responses from other residents demanding a solution from relevant authorities and seeking support from the X (Twitter) community.

When Pune Pulse spoke to the residents of the society, Biswajeet Majumdar, he informed that the builder has not provided water to the society for the last 5 days. The residents are visiting the sales office seeking relief from the water woes.

Another resident Apratim Dwivedi said that the builder should provide us water as per the undertaking he gave to the Pune Municipal Corporation. Over 726 units in the society are in deep trouble with no water.

Pooja Shrivastava, another resident of the society, complained that with summer vacations and people working from home it’s becoming difficult to manage without water. Now that the builder has stopped supplying the water our daily chores are affected. We want builders to compensate and provide us with water. The society next to us, Godrej Infinity is getting water, why are we left sans water, she questioned.

Akash Dugam, another resident complained that the builder has given an undertaking to the PMC that they shall supply the water till the PMC water line comes to us and now the builder has shrugged off its responsibility.

The residents of the society also met the Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale seeking help from PMC to permanently end the water woes. They have asked the PMC chief to lay water pipeline network so that the residents get Corporation water supply.

Pune Pulse has contacted the Godrej Properties and are awaiting for their response.
