Pune: Pune Railway Station is going to get 120 cameras of advanced technology installed in several parts of the station for the safety and security of the passengers.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) and PRO Pune Railways said, “The existing 60 cameras will be replaced with new 60 cameras at Pune railway station. Apart from this, 60 new cameras will also be installed. There will be a total of 120 cameras. All the cameras are of IP technology, which is an important step towards increasing the safety of passengers. Installation of these cameras has started & will be completed till March 2024.”

As per further information, all the CCTV cameras to be installed at Pune Railway Station will have a ‘Facial Recognition System’. The data collected from these cameras is sent to the monitoring station through the IP network. This camera can recognize the person whose face is stored in the database & immediately inform the administration about the presence of suspicious people etc. at the station.

These cameras can detect different parts of the face such as the eyelids or the forehead. The collected data will be stored for 30 days. The ‘face’ will be recognized through these 120 CCTV cameras with a special system at Pune railway station.

Pune Railway Station is an important station of Central Railways. More than 120 trains pass from here every day. Half a million passengers travel through it. Due to this, theft, robbery and other serious crimes have been committed. There are currently 60 CCTV cameras at Pune Railway Station for security purposes. But now these cameras are getting outdated. Hence, 120 new CCTV cameras will replace the outdated CCTV cameras at Pune railway station.
