Pune Roads In Disrepair: PMRDA Issues Notice To PITCMRL, Directs To Complete Repairs By September 25Â
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has issued a fresh notice to Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), urging them to immediately repair critical roads in Ganeshkhind, Pashan, and Baner that have fallen into disrepair. The poor condition of these roads, particularly near the Agricultural College, has caused significant problems for both citizens and drivers.
Hundreds of vehicles navigate through these potholed roads daily, forcing drivers to slow down to avoid damage. Despite repeated requests, PITCMRL has failed to address these issues, prompting PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase to issue a strict directive. The notice mandates that the roads be repaired by September 25.
This is not the first time PITCMRL has been called out for negligence; a similar notice was issued regarding roads in the Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar corridor just two weeks ago. PITCMRL has been contractually responsible for road work in these areas based on a handover agreement.
The deteriorating road conditions have led to widespread inconvenience, affecting daily commuters and residents alike. PMRDA’s notice serves as a final warning to PITCMRL to take immediate action. The growing frustrations of the public need to be addressed, and any further delays in road repairs will not be tolerated.
“The condition of these roads is unacceptable, and we will not tolerate any further delays,” said Dr. Mhase. “PITCMRL must take immediate action to repair these roads and ensure the safety and convenience of our citizens.” With the situation worsening by the day, PMRDA’s notice is a welcome step towards resolving the issue.
