In preparation for the highly anticipated Palkhi celebrations of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune has introduced changes to its regular operations. Specifically, adjustments have been made to the permanent Driving License Test and Vehicle Inspection processes at the Driving Training and Research Institute situated on Alandi Road, as well as the Dive Brake Test Track.

On June 12th, the palkhi procession of Dnyaneshwar Maharaj will be stationed at the test ground on Alandi Road, leading to the suspension of regular vehicle inspections and driving license tests during that period. However, individuals with pre-scheduled appointments on that day will have their vehicle inspections and driving tests rescheduled to June 17th.

Likewise, on June 12th, Tukaram Maharaj’s palanquin will traverse Pune via the old Pune-Mumbai highway and Nashik Phata route. Consequently, access to the Driving Training and Research Institute will be temporarily closed, causing inconvenience to applicants who were scheduled for the fixed license test. Those with appointments for the permanent Driving License Test on June 12th will now be required to appear on June 17th instead.

Furthermore, on June 14th, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palanquin will depart from Pune towards Saswad, resulting in the closure of the Hadapsar-Saswad road. As a result, vehicle owners who had scheduled vehicle certificates of fitness renewals for June 14 will be unable to undergo the mandatory brake tests at the Dive (Purandar) brake test track. The RTO has advised these vehicle owners to present their vehicles for inspection at Dive on any day within the following seven days after June 14th.

These temporary modifications to RTO operations have been implemented to ensure a smooth and secure flow of the Palkhi processions while accommodating the needs of the citizens. The RTO urges affected individuals to adhere to the rescheduled dates and follow the provided instructions for a hassle-free experience during this festive period.
