A clandestine sex racket operating under the guise of a spa center in Pune’s Koregaon Park area has been unearthed by the Social Security Department of the Pune Crime Branch. In a swift action, six young women, including four from Thailand and two from Assam, were rescued from the premises.

The spa center, masquerading as a legitimate establishment, was found to be engaged in illicit activities, exploiting vulnerable individuals by promising financial gains. A case has been filed against the spa’s manager, Shahrukh Ahmad Chaudhary, and the owner, Surendra Jagannath Patil, under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic in Persons Act.

The police initiated the operation based on received intelligence indicating the presence of prostitution at Jewel Square in Koregaon Park. Upon confirmation, an undercover operation was orchestrated, leading to the discovery of the illegal activities. During the raid, authorities apprehended four Thai nationals and two individuals from Assam, who were immediately rescued.

Alongside the rescue operation, the police seized assets totaling Rs. 45,000 and commenced legal proceedings against the perpetrators. This crackdown comes amid a surge in criminal activities in Pune, prompting intensified policing efforts ranging from nighttime patrols to proactive stings and raids.

Despite concerted efforts by law enforcement agencies, the persistence of illegal enterprises underscores the challenges faced in curbing such activities. The police urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious businesses operating under the guise of massage parlors or spas. By fostering community cooperation, authorities aim to eradicate such nefarious practices and ensure the safety and security of all residents.
