Pune: Special Surveillance Teams Established for Smooth Conduct of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Chinchwad Constituency

To ensure the smooth conduct of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, 33 Static Surveillance Teams (SST) have been set up by the Election Commission in the electoral area of the Chinchwad Assembly Constituency. These teams will work under the guidance of Dipak Singla, the Chief Electoral Officer, and Vitthal Joshi, the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer. Their primary responsibility is to effectively implement the Model Code of Conduct during the elections.

In the Chinchwad constituency, encompassing Sangvi, Wakad, Kalakhadak, and Mukai Chowk, a total of 12 SSTs have been established. Each team consists of one magistrate, two police personnel, and a videographer. These teams operate round the clock, monitoring activities such as illegal gatherings, distribution of substances, and any violent incidents, and taking necessary actions as per the law.

Additionally, six Flying Surveillance Teams (FSTs) have been deployed in the Chinchwad constituency area. Each FST comprises one magistrate, one assistant police inspector, one police officer, and a videographer. These teams, equipped with independent vehicles, operate 24/7 to maintain vigilance.

Moreover, to oversee compliance with the Model Code of Conduct and promptly address any complaints received through channels like cVigil, five Video Surveillance Teams (VSTs) have been established. Each VST includes two magistrates, one police officer, one videographer, and independent transportation.

Furthermore, to review speeches made by candidates during public rallies, processions, meetings, and gatherings, five Video Viewing Teams (VVTs) have been formed. Each VVT consists of four officials. Additionally, expenses related to campaign materials, vehicles, catering, and program arrangements are closely monitored and reported to the expenditure observer regularly.

The establishment of these specialized surveillance teams aims to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and ensure a fair and transparent election in the Chinchwad constituency.
