Pune: SPPU to Help Blocked PRN Students Complete Their Degrees
Pune, Wednesday: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to offer assistance to students whose Permanent Registration Numbers (PRN) were blocked, preventing them from graduating. Following an academic council meeting, it was announced that these students will now have the chance to take their exams in the 2024-25 academic year, specifically for those who have completed their final year but were unable to graduate due to backlogs.
Mahesh Kakde, director of SPPU’s examination and evaluation board, said, “SPPU is giving students whose PRNs were blocked another opportunity to take their exams. This is the second time such an opportunity is being offered. The exam department will ensure that students with blocked PRNs can now sit for their exams. Eligible students should contact their college principals for details on how to proceed.”
Sagar Vaidya, a member of the SPPU management council, highlighted the importance of this decision, saying, “More than 7,000 students will benefit from this move, making SPPU the second university in India to take such a step. Last year, 1.27 lakh students were affected, and this decision marks a significant milestone for the university.”
As SPPU celebrates its 75th anniversary, the university has also engaged with the University Grants Commission (UGC) to ensure that students can graduate without unnecessary delays. This decision followed discussions between Kakde and UGC officials.
