On 5th February 2024 (Monday), a stray dog had allegedly attacked a minor girl in Yashodhan Society, Chintamani Nagar Phase 2, Bibvewadi.

As per further information shared by a resident of the society “A stray dog in our society attacked and injured 7 year old girl. Luckily another resident intervened and saved the child. We request fellow residents who are animal lovers to take complete responsibility of the stray dog by not just feeding them but also take up their vaccination, sterilization. Such incident should not happen with any child at all.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Sarika Funde, Veterinary Superintendent, PMC, said “As of now, I don’t have complete information about this case. However, I have heard that the incident happened on 5th February evening. In stray dog cases, we keep the stray dogs under observation for 10 days & if symptoms of rabies are seen in the dog, we conduct free vaccination drive for the person attacked. However, in this Bibvewadi case, prima facie, there was no confirmation whether she had been bitten by the dog or not. Hence, that is currently being investigated. Only after knowing further action will be taken.”

The society residents informed that PMC must take drive to identify stray dogs within the society premises and take up their sterilization and vaccination.
