In response to a surge in property registrations ahead of the potential increase in ready reckoner rates on April 1, all sub-registrar offices in Maharashtra, including Pune, will remain open this weekend.

The Maharashtra Registration and Stamp Department has confirmed that all 517 registration offices across the state will operate from Saturday, March 29, to Monday, March 31. The decision, outlined in a circular by Deputy Inspector-General of Registration Udayraj Chavan, ensures uninterrupted services despite upcoming holidays such as Gudi Padwa, Eid, and the financial year-end.

Increased Demand for Property Registrations

Every year, homebuyers rush to complete property registrations before April 1 to avoid possible hikes in stamp duty and property prices. A senior official from the registration department highlighted the growing demand, stating, “We’ve observed a significant increase in people finalizing property deals before the financial year ends. Keeping offices open will help streamline the process and support revenue collection.”

The Maharashtra Registration and Stamp Department is targeting a revenue collection of ₹55,000 crore this fiscal year and has already achieved 98% of its goal. Officials are optimistic that extending office hours will help them reach or exceed the target before the month ends.

Homebuyers and Developers Benefit from Extended Services

With sub-registrar offices remaining open, homebuyers and developers can complete their transactions smoothly without last-minute hassles. Property buyers are encouraged to take advantage of the extended service period to avoid any delays.
