A unique Overhead Terrace Garden will be inaugurated by several citizens & the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) at Mahatma Phule Sanskrutik Bhavan, Wanowrie.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Maithili Manakwad, Secretary, Wanowrie Residents’ Forum, said “PMC has instructed all ward offices to have a terrace garden. This hasn’t happened in every ward as it depends on the motivational level, efficiency etc. 4 years ago, we had done this in Ghole Road. Now, we wanted to do the terrace garden in our ward i.e. Wanowrie-Ramtekdi.”

Manakwad further continued “It is a zero-waste project where several things like crates, bamboos, old flexes etc are used. We have made it much bigger & more beautiful. In Wanowrie, the work for this had been started since April 2023. However, it hadn’t been completed earlier due to various reasons. Now, we have got a big land of 8,000 sq ft for implementing the Terrace Garden project. This is a complete citizen project where we haven’t taken any money or monetary help from any politician etc. Also, PMC and 2NGOs are involved. Around 300 to 400 different kinds of plants will be there. We have selected 14th February as the inauguration date as the world is celebrating Valentine’s Day. We love trees, the environment and more.”

As per further information, some unique highlights of this project are:

·         Butterfly garden

·         Oxyzone

·         Arogyam dhansampada

·         Natural Black gold

·         Recycled & Reused
