Pune, January 30, 2026: Kharadi Police have registered a case against a pickup vehicle driver in connection with the death of a two-year-old child who was run over while playing near his residence in the Kharadi area of Pune.
According to police details, the incident took place at around 7:00 pm on January 29, 2026, in front of Suma Kapila, buffalo shed at Dhole Patil Wada, near Panchshil Tower, Kharadi. The accused has been identified as Amar Malve (25), a resident of Kharadi, who was driving the pickup vehicle at the time of the incident. He has not been arrested so far.
Police stated that the accused allegedly drove the pickup vehicle rashly, negligently, and at high speed, ignoring traffic regulations.
During this time, the complainant’s two-year-old son, who was playing at the spot, was run over by the left wheel of the pickup vehicle, causing severe injuries. The child later succumbed to the injuries.
A case has been registered at Kharadi Police Station under Sections 106, 281, and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 119 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
API Ravindra Godse told Pune Pulse that the driver was arrested and was presented in the court.
Further investigation is underway.
