Department of Posts is holding Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter Writing Competition for young people for the year 2024 on the subject.

 “At 150 years old, the UPU has served people around the world for more than eight generations. The world has changed enormously since then. Write a letter to future generations about the world you hope they inherit.”

Participants will write a Letter expressing their views on the subject addressed to the Director, Mumbai GPO, Maharashtra & Goa Circle, Mumbai. If shortlisted, which would be eligible for Cash awards first at Circle level, then Medal / Certificate at Directorate level & other prizes as decided by UPU at International level.

Participation eligibility: It is open to participants for age 9-15 years. 

Content & form : Composition must be presented in the form of letter.

Language: English or any language listed in the 8th schedule of the 

Constitution of lndia.

Date by which participants should declare their intention for participation in the competition (last date); 23.02.2024

Date of the Competition at the venue at District level: 03.03.2024

Date on which School can independently organize competition for their student: 02.03.2024

Date by which entries to reach Nodal officer i.e Mumbai GPO for evaluation; 20.03.2024.

How to apply: Application in bilingual (both English & Hindi) on Plain paper in prescribed format alongwith three (03) passport size photographs.

Selection Procedure: The prize will be awarded to the best 03 (three) entries at Circle level. These best 03 entries chosen at Circle level will be sent to the Directorate for further evaluation of final best 03 entries at the National level. The best entry at National level shall qualify as the official Indian entry for the International level competition.
