In a fervent plea for justice, residents of Wagholi (Team Wagholi) have come forward to demand clarification on the controversial issue of tax collection by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

In an X post by the social media handle of the residents association, @team_waco , citizens are raising their voices against what they deem unjust taxation practices. At the heart of the matter lies the absence of essential infrastructure in Wagholi, including basic amenities such as water, roads, sewage and solid waste management. Despite the lack of these vital services, residents asserted that they are burdened with taxes, including water benefit tax, road tax, drainage tax and sanitation tax.

They have sought explanation from the MLA Ashok Pawar too on the issue of unjustified property tax collection.

Expressing their discontent, the residents emphasise that it is unfair to levy taxes for services that are not provided to them. They argue that the PMC’s failure to deliver on its obligations has significantly impacted their daily lives, leaving them grappling with unfit living conditions.
