Pune: Residents of several societies in Wagholi are facing issues because of the huge pits dug up on the road connecting Dreams Sankalp CHS Road with SNBP school. As a result, along with Wagholi citizens, students studying in SNBP school are facing difficulty commuting from that street.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Surya Rana, a resident of Neo City Phase 2, Wagholi said, “Due to the huge pits dug up on the road, we are facing a lot of inconvenience. Our commuting time has increased. Earlier, it was a smooth patch, so there was no difficulty to travel from there. For many days, pits of huge size & width have been dug up. I see SNBP school students struggling to cross the pits. The Pune Municipal Corporation hasn’t informed us anything about when the repair works will be carried out.”

Neeraj Jha, another resident of Neo City Phase 3, Wagholi said, “My daughter is a student of SNBP school. Due to the big pits we avoid that route completely. Instead we take the route from Ivy Estate road which increases the distance to 4 to 5 km. Due to the entire traffic on Nagar road, it takes us 30 to 35 minutes to reach the school. These pits have been dug up for 4 to 5 days now & there are 3 huge ones. No one has any idea about why this is done. Due to these pits, along with my daughter, other kids also find it difficult to go to SNBP school. We have no idea when this issue is going to be resolved.”

Manish Pipalwa, a resident of Neo City Phase 3, Wagholi said, “My child studies in SNBP school. Using the old route it used to take 5 to 10 minutes to drop our kids to the school. However, due to the road being dug up & huge pits created, we have to go from Nagar road then enter Ivy Estate road which is not very good in condition & then we reach the SNBP school. Hence, the distance has increased by 4 to 5 km & it takes 30 to 35 minutes to reach the school. PMC hasn’t notified as to when the pits will be re-filled & the road becoming normal & safe to use again.”

Pune Pulse tried contacting the relevant PMC Road Department official but couldn’t connect till the filing of this report.

Sanjeev Patil, Director, Wagholi Housing Society Association said, “People here have to resort to other long-distance routes to commute towards Kesanand & other locations as these humongous pits have been dug up on the road connecting Dreams Sankalp CHS Road to SNBP school. Students in SNBP school are not able to reach their schools easily. The width of these pits is too big, creating the fear that someone who tries to cross the pits might fall inside. The PMC officials must provide appropriate information as to why these pits are dug up & when they will be covered.”
