Pune: Walkathon On NIBM Road Highlights Dangers Of Public SpittingĀ
The Sare Jahan Se Acha Foundation, Pune, recently organized a Walkathon to raise awareness about the health risks associated with spitting in public spaces.
Residents from NIBM Road and Wanowrie participated in the event alongside Narayan Lonkar. During the Walkathon, a short talk was delivered, explaining how spitting in public can spread diseases such as Swine Flu, COVID-19, and TB.Ā
The event was graced by the presence of the Foundationās Founder Directors, Raja Narasimhan and Priti Raja. Notably, they have traveled across 26 states and 6 Union Territories, covering 52,000 kilometers in their personal vehicle to promote this cause, earning them a place in the India Book of Records.
Local concerned citizens, including Vijay Zala, Vidya Iyer, Pinky Bhuptani, Rithambara Korpal, Jyoti Saraogi, and Elizabeth, emphasized the seriousness of the issue, calling for increased public awareness and education on the harmful effects of spitting. They believe that initiatives like this Walkathon are small but significant steps towards achieving a spit-free India.
Among the participants was 85-year-old Rajamani, who actively took part and commended the initiative as a welcome effort.
