Pune: Wanawadi Residents Raise Health And Safety Concerns Over Construction Activity Near Aura Solis Society
Pune, February 24, 2026: Residents of Aura Solis Society in Azad Nagar, Wanawadi, have raised serious concerns over ongoing construction and alleged mining activities in the immediate vicinity, citing environmental damage, excessive noise, and potential health risks.
According to local residents, heavy machinery such as JCBs, excavators and tippers operate continuously from around 8:00 am until late evening, generating high noise levels in the predominantly residential neighbourhood. The disturbance is said to be particularly distressing for senior citizens, heart patients and students currently preparing for Class 10 and 12 board examinations.
Residents have also alleged significant air pollution due to inadequate dust-control measures at the site. They claim that no regular water sprinkling is being carried out to suppress dust, resulting in fine particles remaining suspended in the air throughout the day. Locals further pointed out that no Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring system has been installed at the project site to track pollution levels.
Concerns have also been raised over the transportation of debris. Heavy vehicles are reportedly moving through public roads without properly covering construction material, leading to dust dispersal and creating potential road safety hazards.
In addition, residents have questioned the lack of visible safety measures at the site. They allege that proper tin-sheet barricading has not been installed around the plot to contain dust and debris, and that standard environmental and municipal safety norms are not being adequately followed.
Calling the situation a violation of environmental regulations and civic construction guidelines, residents have urged the municipal authorities to intervene and take appropriate action to safeguard public health and safety.
