Pune : Water problem of Wagholi – Lohegaon to be solved, announces PMC

The residents of Wagholi and Lohegaon need not worry about the water supply, as the Pune Municipal Corporation has announced the DPR for water supply for the two areas yesterday. 

The Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation, Vikram Kumar announced that the water will be supplied to both the areas from Bhama Askhed Dam at the cost of Rs 281 crores. 

The water will be supplied through the Common Water Supply Scheme. Wagholi was merged into PMC limits in 2021 and the area has seen exponential growth in the last few years, where the residents are struggling for basic infrastructure, with expenditure on water being the most. 

The DPR for water supply has been made assuming for the population till 2041, where 59 MLD water will be supplied from Bhama Askhed dam everyday. The proposal has been put forth to the Pre-Estimation Committee for approval after which the tender process will be implemented.
