Pune: The residents of city’s Katraj and Jambhulwadi areas including Waghjai Nagar, Jain Mandir Parisar, Santosh Nagar, Anjani Nagar and Sacchai Mata Parisar have been facing water crisis as supply has been discontinued four days back. Though the civic body claims that water tankers have been arranged to ferry water to these areas, residents say that the water thus supplied is not enough for their use.

This unannounced water cut has pushed residents to purchase water from private suppliers.

Nitin Jadhav, a resident of Waghjai Nagar said,“The civic body citied maintenance work for this water cut but we want to know what kind of maintenance work is going on for the last four days.” He further said that the area is facing water cuts twice a month.

Another resident Nilima Pandit from Anjani Nagar said that, “The Pune Municipal Corporation is not serious about water supply to our region. They have forced us to purchase water from private tankers. We don’t get sufficient water even otherwise. We have raised multiple complaints with the authorities concerned but nothing has improved.”

While residents speak about their water woes, deputy engineer Prashant Kumbhar of civic water supply department said that the supply has resumed. “There was a technical issue at Rajiv Gandhi pumping station. We have sorted it out now,” he said.
