In a significant breakthrough, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Estimate Committee has approved plans for a new flyover and subway at Yerwada’s Shastrinagar Chowk, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the area. The projects, announced by Vadgaon Sheri constituency MLA Sunil Tingre, are part of a broader effort to address the growing traffic problems on Pune’s city roads. The proposed subway will feature six tiers, including a three-lane road for vehicles traveling from Yerwada to Nagar Road Kharadi and another three-lane subway for vehicles heading towards Pune. The estimated cost for this project is ₹37 crores.

A two-tiered flyover is also planned for vehicles coming from Kharadi and Vimannagar, designed to ease the route to the golf club. This flyover is expected to cost ₹26 crores. An additional ₹18 crores will be allocated for other improvements and infrastructure enhancements at the square.

The projects, set to commence soon, come in addition to ongoing efforts to alleviate traffic on Pune-Ahmednagar road. The removal of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system from Yerwada to Viman Nagar has already provided significant relief to motorists.
