Pune: The Central Railway is currently exploring different possibilities to enhance the frequency of local trains between Pune and Lonavala, particularly during the three-hour period when services are temporarily stopped due to corridor blocks. Each day, the local train service between Pune Railway Station and Lonavala is stopped between 11:15 a.m. and 3 p.m.

While the local train service between Lonavala and Pune is affected from 10 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. This interruption has caused significant difficulties for commuters who travel regularly between Pune and Lonavala, forcing them to rely on road transportation and resulting in increased travel time and expenses. Additionally, a considerable number of students, whose college schedules start in the early morning and end in the afternoon, also face this predicament. After completing their classes, they are left waiting for more than 2 to 3 hours for the local trains to resume.

Despite previous appeals from daily commuters to introduce afternoon local train services to alleviate these challenges, officials were awaiting approval from the Mumbai headquarters. However, recent updates from headquarters confirm that they are actively working on solutions, including the possibility of allowing some local trains to operate during the period of corridor blockage.

These initiatives aim to ensure that people no longer encounter such inconveniences during their daily commutes.
