Railway introduces special train for pilgrimage tour to Mata Vaishno Devi
Travellers who are planning to undertake a pilgrimage tour to Mata Vaishno Devi can now rejoice as the Ministry of Railways has announced the introduction of a new train route.
This special festival train will connect Bihar’s Katihar with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway stations and will be managed by the Northern Railway (NR) zone.
Northern Railway has announced the operation of 04640/04639 Katihar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – Katihar Reserved Festival special trains to manage the increased traffic during the festival season, according to a statement released by the railway.
The SVDK-Katihar-SVDK Reserved Festival Special Express Train, with train number 04640/04639, will travel a distance of over 1500 kilometers in a duration of 35 hours and 30 minutes. It is the quickest train on this route, surpassing the Lohit Express, which takes 35 hours and 35 minutes to cover the same distance.
The SVDK-Katihar-SVDK Reserved Festival Special Express Train had a specific schedule. It left Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on November 15, 2023, at 21:30 hrs and arrived in Katihar on November 17 at 09:00 hrs. On its return journey, the train with the number 04639 departed from Katihar at 11:00 hrs on November 17, 2023, and is expected to reach the Union Territory today, which is November 19, at 23:00 hrs.
The SVDK-Katihar-SVDK Reserved Festival Special Express train will make stops at a total of 20 stations along its route. These stations include Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Yamunanagar Jagadhri, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Sitapur, Gonda, Basti, Gorakhpur, Chhapra, Hajipur, Barauni Junction, Begusarai, Khagaria Junction, and Naugachia railway stations.
The SVDK-Katihar-SVDK Reserved Festival Special Express train will consist of coaches categorized as AC 3 Class Economy. The ticket price for every passenger traveling from the starting point to the final destination is Rs 2145.
