Pune : Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled prototype images of the highly anticipated Vande Bharat sleeper coaches, which will be jointly manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). 

During the presentation of the concept images of the domestically-built semi-high-speed train, Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the sleeper versions of the Vande Bharat Express will be launched in early 2024. According to sources quoted by news agency ANI last week, the newly designed sleeper coaches of the Vande Bharat Express train are expected to be introduced by February 2024.

The recently revealed images by Ashwini Vaishnaw showcase a revolutionary rail travel experience for commuters, featuring state-of-the-art interiors and amenities. The concept sleeper coaches boast a classic wooden design and more comfortable seats, as well as ambient floor lighting and enhanced top lights.

The inaugural Vande Bharat Express train was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019, initially operating between New Delhi and Varanasi. It is anticipated that the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express will be introduced alongside the existing fleet of premium trains. 

Last month, PM Modi launched nine Vande Bharat trains with various new features incorporated based on passenger feedback, aimed at enhancing the comfort of the journey. These improvements include adjusting the seat reclining angle and incorporating deep wash basins to prevent water from splashing out, demonstrating the attention to detail by the coach manufacturers.
