Railways Launches Action Against Fake Transgenders Harassing Passengers on Trains
RPF Agra Division apprehends 54 individuals posing as transgenders; passengers urged to report incidents via Rail Madad or helpline 139
In a major step toward ensuring safer travel for passengers, the Indian Railways has introduced an easy and effective way for commuters to report harassment by individuals posing as transgender persons and extorting money on trains. Passengers can now lodge complaints through the ‘Rail Madad’ portal or by calling the Railway Helpline 139.
The move follows a special drive conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Agra Division, North Central Railway, between October 1 and 15, during which 54 individuals were apprehended for misusing transgender identity to harass and demand money from travelers. The campaign specifically targeted incidents of misbehavior, unauthorized travel, and forced money collection on trains and platforms.
According to official data, from January to October 2025, the RPF Agra Division took action against 303 individuals involved in such unlawful activities. During this period, passengers lodged 257 complaints through the Rail Madad platform, all of which were addressed promptly by the authorities.
RPF officials have instructed all division posts and outpost in-charges to stay alert, conduct regular checks on trains and platforms, and act immediately against anyone found engaging in such acts. Passengers are encouraged to report any instances of harassment directly to the Railway Protection Force, helpline number 139, or the nearest railway staff on duty.
The RPF Agra Division reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, safety, and service quality, ensuring that every passenger enjoys a safe and pleasant travel experience on Indian Railways.
