Rajesh Kumar is a well-known television actor who made his debut in the industry with the show “Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand.” However, he is primarily recognized for his role as ‘Rosesh Sarabhai’ in the hit sitcom “Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.” Although Rajesh has taken on various roles on television, his portrayal of ‘Rosesh’ is still a fan favorite. Eventually, Rajesh transitioned from acting to farming.

In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Rajesh shared that after leaving the acting scene, he returned home to start farming alongside his father. He also auditioned for the show “Shark Tank” as a contestant but was turned down after two rounds. He had hoped that his fame as an actor would help him secure a spot, but that didn’t happen. Rajesh mentioned that he felt very disappointed and lacked confidence after the rejection. In his own words: “I had applied for Shark Tank India.

I had cleared two out of three rounds. You also had to submit your videos, so I thought I might get a favour because I am a known face. That here is an actor, who is a social entrepreneur talking about agriculture. My presentation was in Kolkata and it was wrapped within a day. My father paid for the tickets.”

The actor mentioned that during that time, his confidence was ‘so shaken’ that he didn’t believe he could receive movie offers without going through auditions. This was a concern for him when he was approached for the film “Haddi,” starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

“Just before I left for Shark Tank India, I received a call from Haddi, and they wanted to meet me. My confidence was so shaken that when I went to meet the casting director at his office, they told me the director would meet me. I thought I would have to audition, but then they mentioned that the production team would discuss the payment first. I assumed my audition would happen afterward. Instead, they said, ‘Sir, you are confirmed.’

I was surprised and asked, ‘But what about my audition?’ They replied that they just wanted me on board. The director had only one request: if I could shave my head. I agreed but asked for an extra one lakh, and he accepted,” he recalled with a laugh.

Rajesh Kumar is currently featured in “Binny And Family.” This film is the acting debut of Anjini Dhawan, who is the niece of actor Varun Dhawan. The movie, which is now showing in theaters, also includes performances by Pankaj Kapur and Himani Shivpuri.
