The Board Of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is making big moves by introducing a new red-ball cricket tournament for women, which will be held in Pune City. This comes right after the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Kicked off, showing the BCCI’s commitment to women’s cricket.

This tournament will last for three days each.

Starting from March 28 in Pune City, six teams will be competing in this upcoming tournament. The teams are split into different zones; North, South, East, West, Central and North-East.

In the semi-finals, the North and South Zone teams will be played against each other. For other teams to be a part of the semi-finals, they’ll have to win to secure their spot.

The finals will take place from April 9 to April 11 2024.

Furthermore, to make sure that the participating players get enough time for preparation and rest, there is an 11-day break between the end of the Women’s Premier League and the Red-Ball Tournament. With this break, the players will be recharged and get ready for the next tournament.

Currently in the Women’s Premier League, Delhi Capitals (DC) are leading with four points, winning two out of three matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have four points each, but DC is leading based on the net run rate.

The excitement towards the Red-Ball tournament is growing day by day, especially in the hearts of citizens of Pune on whose ground the matches will be played.
