Maharashtra : Government Medical Colleges Boost Stipend for Interning Doctors Amidst Rising Demands

The Maharashtra State Association Of Resident Doctor’s (MARD) have called off their strike which was going to start from Wednesday, 7th February, 2024 against inadequate accommodation and delayed and stagnant stipend.

In a release on X, MARD said that “The Minister has assured that he will do the needful to resolve our issues”

The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar has promised to increase the stipend byRs.10,000 and ensured proper disbursal of tuition fees, considering the needs of medical students. Moreover, immediate action will be taken to improve the current Postgraduate student hostels and in case of more accommodations, rental properties with be secured with financial assistance to the affected students.

These commitments were made by Deputy Chief Ajit Pawar in a meeting with MARD. Dr. Abhijit Hegle presented documents to assure how important this issue is. Central MARD will take further actions if the issue is not resolved within a period of 10 days.

Deputy Chief Ajit Pawar had a meeting to solve the issues of Central MARD which included Minister of Education Minister Hasan Musrif and others to ensure that the matter is being resolved at priority with the Public works department.
