As summer temperatures rise, residents in Pimpri Chinchwad suburbs are facing unexpected power disruptions, causing inconvenience and concern among the community.

Reports indicate that areas such as Nigdi, Pradhikaran, and Chikhali have experienced interruptions in power supply, leaving residents worried about the reliability of electricity during the scorching summer months.

In Pradhikaran, residents of Sectors 24, 27, 27A, and 28 were plunged into darkness unexpectedly late at night, with power not restored until the following morning.

Infrastructure works, including the installation of CCTV cameras and cables, have occasionally caused these disruptions. Instances of power lines breaking during road excavation due to coordination issues between departments and agencies have also been reported.

Similar incidents near Mhalsakant Square and other areas have led to prolonged power outages, impacting residents and local businesses alike.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has cited ongoing road works, breakdowns, and distribution panel malfunctions as reasons for these outages.

Small-scale industries in the region are also suffering from power supply issues. There are significant interruptions in the Talawade area that are adversely affecting the local businesses.

Despite meetings between entrepreneurs’ associations and MSEDCL, a resolution to the problem remains elusive. Interruptions on working days lead to financial losses for these small entrepreneurs.

Nishikant Raut, the public relations officer of MSEDCL, assured that efforts are underway to quickly resolve power outages caused by various local issues.

Power Supply Challenges:

  1. Aging infrastructure like cables and connectors.
  2. Increased demand for electricity during summer.
  3. Disposal of waste near cables causing damage.
  4. Excavation activities leading to cable damage.
