The Rotary Club of Pune Baner conducted a heart-touching, engaging and valuable christmas celebration for 380 specially- abled students at Bal Kalyan Sanstha on December 27, at the BKS premises in Aundh at Pune. 

The program, called समाVESH, was jointly conducted by Rotary club of Pune Baner, Rotaract club of Pune IIEBM, Rotaract club of Pune Baner, Rotaract Club of Indira College, Interact Club of Indus Pune.

Eight international students of Rotary youth Exchange, from various countries, were also part of the program. 

In this four- hour program, समाVESH, the specially abled children at BKS were treated to an afternoon Christmas carnival full of games and surprises.

As the children entered the venue at 11.00 am, a surprise cake from Santa Claus greeted them.

This was followed by various events like a  ring game, tattoo stamping, throwball from a clown’s mouth, breaking a tower of glasses, throwing ping pong balls in tumblers, etc. 

Says Rotarian Prreeya Karria, the Youth Director of Rotary Club of Pune Baner, Co-director (District) Rotary youth exchange avenue and the program convenor,

“This program is valuable because it underlines the Rotary values of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The highlight of the carnival was the screening of Hindi film Chillar party, which the special audience enjoyed a lot. 

The event brought about happiness, cheer and bonding amidst the students.” More importantly, since this event was conducted by the youth from rotaract, interact and RYE, it enabled a seamless mixing up of the privileged youth of society with the disabled and specially abled children, Prreeya added. Lunch was provided to all the children on this occasion.

Siddesh Gaikwad DISTRICT ROTARACT REPRESENTATIVE, Presidents of the participating Rotaract  Clubs, More than 50 Rotaractors, international students, Mrs. Aparna Panse, Director, Bal Kalyan Sanstha were also present at the event. In addition, More than 20 members of the Rotary club of Pune Baner participated in the event.
